Hello AS*i*BE readers! I wanted to write to all of you as business owners and members of our community about my experience,
even in the toughest economic times, continuing to make time to give back to various charities in our community and how helping others raise their standard of living can help you raise yours inside and out!
I have heard from so many of the volunteers and heads of the charities we work with that so many people and companies have stopped making contributions of any kind to them. I certainly do understand the struggle. As you can imagine, there were not people lined up at our door in the morning to purchase jewelry! However, if we do in anyway, regardless of our religion, believe in the simple rule of what goes around comes around, as my husband Steve and I do, we have to know that if we don’t keep putting ourselves out there, and in some cases giving more than is comfortable, things will only get worse.
Our company is living proof that you can still do what I firmly believe is in all of your hearts and it may just come back to you ten fold! In the midst of the troubled times we are thriving! We made it through without laying any of our staff off and better then that even hired several people! I have to say having stepped up our giving efforts after hearing so many stories in our community and in the news… People killing themselves over an electric bill, car salesmen trying to support their families and children on barely minimum wage. Even if you don’t have cash to give there are so many ways you can help-Your time, a gift of product or service from your company that maybe of value to others. Know that only good can come of your effort to do so.
“How?” you may ask. I think the good people of this community that do make an attempt to get out and be apart of varying efforts to keep our neighbors afloat see who is out there helping and who is giving back. Then they make a conscious effort when in need of a product or service that you may provide to say, “Hey, I am going to go to them”. Either because they met you or appreciate you willingness to help and thus give back to you!
And any of our Facebook friends will tell you, although there are times I just want to be snuggled up in bed with my kids, once we get out there we have a GREAT time meeting new, wonderful people and catching up with others we already know. We have a blast! So don’t quit! In these times we can’t wait for people to come knocking on our door begging for our products or services and “these people” who are assisted by our gift of time and money are people we live in this community with, shop with and are neighbors with. Don’t you think it is in our best interest if they are not in desperate states?
Think about it…
Wishing you all the best!
