Here at As I Be, we believe art is to be embraced. Whether it be on your wall, on a shelf or in some cases, on your person. Local artist Liz Kieffer embodies that spirit. Her glass “cool” crosses can be seen accentuating the neckline of men and women throughout the Bay area or as home décor in some of the finest residences. By blending fused glass and semi-precious stones together with sterling silver, Kieffer has established a unique style which makes wearing art fun and fashionable.
When it comes to sculpture, nothing is ruled out, as Kieffer utilizes recycled glass with found objects to create one-of-a-kind works of arts. Her pieces are a favorite of home designers in Tampa because they offer a mixed media that infuses with just about any style. Having worked in the commercial world of set design, both in Nashville and in Orlando for Universal and Disney, Kieffer established a solid background from which to pull from in a fundamental sense. She turned her direction to glass creations in 1993 and has since built a faithful following as a local artist.
These days you can find the works of her imagination at the
Tampa Artist Emporium on Bay To Bay Boulevard in South Tampa. There you’ll discover an array of pieces from more than 70 local artists including hand blown glass, pottery, fused glass, mosaics and whimsical works in various media. The collection of unique jewelry varies from beaded works to precious gems as well as sterling silver and gold. Gallery Director Shelby Boggs, along with known Tampa photographer Dave Gutcher, put on an exceptional display of high-end photography making the Emporium a one-stop destination for all mediums of fine art.
