Peggy Oneill's - Ian Beckleswhats hot

What’s Hot Tampa Bays’ staff took a field trip to Peggy Oneills Palm Harbor in quest to find the Bay area finest irish restaurant. Peggy Oneill's came highly recommended by our webmaster Bert Price and lived up to his high praise.

Owners Eric Webber and Jon and Bridget Egan have a restaurant that serves delicious Celtic cuisine teamed with classic American dishes. Friendly Irish warmth, traditional Irish coffee and a perfect pint of Guniness makes Peggy Oneill's the closest thing to being in Ireland.

We started off with a good old fashioned American staple, chicken wings. The wings had a nice crispy skin with a nice sweet glaze. Hardly Irish, but our pints of Guinness kept it real. Next came sliders which were tender and appetizing and the seared tuna wrapped up our American dining experience.

peggysWe drove to Palm Harbor to experience Ireland. And that we did. We all ordered another Guinness and waited for our Celtic fare. I’ve always been a fan of Shepards Pie. I consider this simple dish, one of the worlds true comfort foods. Peggy Oneill's Shepards Pie did not disappoint. The mashed potatoes were crispy and fluffy and the ground beef carrots and corn married beautifully. The corned beef and hash got passing grades from our whole peggysstaff.

The food at Peggy Oneill's is fantastic. But if there was one dish that made the trip worth while, it was  threre “worlds Best” fish and chips. Claiming to be the best in the world is a bit cocky. But Peggy Oneill's fish and chips are the best I ever had. The fish was lightly battered and fried to perfection. The fries came crispy and seasoned like someone in the kitchen takes pride in there creations.

Its St Patricks day everyday at Peggy Oneill's. Salinte! Peggy Oneill's should be your first choice in the Bay area for authentic dishes from the Emerald Isle.
